-For Jim Because You Asked-
By Brandi Hill
Hello again grandpa,
I really missed you so
I'm sorry that I went away
I'm sorry I had to go
I hope you got my letters
I wrote you many times
I am really scared grandpa
For your letters have not shown
I will come to see you grandpa
Because I'm coming home
Why are all these people here grandpa
Standing on your lawn
I came into your house grandpa
And they told me you were gone
I didn't listen to them grandpa
I had to see for myself
And when I went to find you grandpa
Your bottle of ashes lay on the shelf
What has happened grandpa
I do not understand
They told me you were fine grandpa
But your body is now like sand
The way I found out grandpa
Was the worst of all
I got a phone call grandpa
Two weeks after you had gone
I'm sorry I didn't come sooner grandpa
I had no way or phone
I don't have any answers grandpa
I am sorry I left you alone
I'm closing my letter grandpa
But before I can go
I must say I love you grandpa
My voice is getting low
Now I say goodbye Grandpa
But not to let you go
I say goodbye grandpa
Because the angels are calling you home
I will see you soon grandpa
I'll fall asleep real soon
Then we can meet in my dreams grandpa
As I look upon the moon
The stars are shinning bright grandpa
The Earth is somewhat cold
In dreams I hope to see you grandpa
Just like you've always told
You really are gone grandpa
Just as the days become less
So I say goodbye grandpa,
And goodnight, and God Bless.
Dedicated in loving memory of my grandfather: Jim Robbins
